“So this, uh, ‘sensei’ of yours. He taught you to do all that?” Asked Zander.

“Yup yup! Iro! He taught me everything I know. But don’t think it’s easy! I trained for ten years to get where I am now!”

“Huh. Crazy.”

“You’re pretty strong yourself, ya know.”

“Yeah well I’ve never put much thought into my unarmed fighting, I just sorta aim for the face and hope for the best.”

Asuna nodded passionately, “Yes, absolutely. That’s a crucial first step.”

Sebastian sat beside Arturia, leaning back at their table in the tavern listening to the others banter back and forth.

“Ah look at those two, hitting it off right as rain.” He smiled.

“It would seem so.” Said Arturia, kicking her feet at the air.

“I knew this little adventuring party would work out well, I have remarkable intuition.” He took a bite from a sandwich.

“Do you really?”

“Why of course!” He talked with his mouth full.

Arturia made a gross face, “Please, um, swallow first.”

Sebastian gulped down the bite, “Ah, where are my manners? Traveling with Zander for so long makes me lose my sophisticated touch.”

“You were saying?”

“Ah yes. I have remarkable intuition. Why, I sniffed out that you’re a warlock didn’t I?”

“A warlock.. I’d never considered the idea.”

“Really?!” Sebastian was shocked, “It’s plain as day, anyone can see.”

“Don’t warlocks choose to follow their patrons?”

“Yes, yes, typically that is sort of in the terms of service…” He pondered.

“It’s always been this way, ever since I can remember. Mother said that when she was with child, she came down with a horrible illness. My parents prayed and prayed to any god that would answer, and-”

“Ah! Let me guess, she was miraculously healed?”

“Yes!”

“Bless your heart. There’s always a catch with those things.”
